Prime Minister Narendra Modi will go to Russia from October 22-23 for the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan. He was invited by President Vladimir Putin. This is Modi's second trip to Russia this year.

At the summit, he will meet with leaders from other BRICS countries and special guests.

The theme, “Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,” will allow leaders to discuss key global challenges.

The ministry added that the summit will be a good chance to evaluate the progress of BRICS initiatives and explore areas for future cooperation.

Earlier this year, in July, Prime Minister Modi visited Russia for two days. This was his first trip since the Ukraine war started.

He met President Putin at his home outside Moscow and later at the Kremlin.

Before this trip, Modi last visited Russia in 2019 for a forum in Vladivostok, where he also met Putin.

They had a short meeting in September 2022 in Uzbekistan during a summit.

After his July visit, PM Modi posted a photo with Putin on social media, saying, “Stronger ties between our nations will greatly benefit our people.”

Videos from the Kremlin showed the leaders at Putin's residence, Novo-Ogaryovo, near Moscow.
